Why Trauma-Informed?
No learning happens without the permission of the nervous system. No connection is possible without the permission of the nervous system.
When we understand how to cultivate a felt sense of safety within ourselves, we can begin to create safer spaces for others to learn, grow and heal.
As our knowledge and understanding about the human body, mind and spirit expands, being trauma-informed gives you a foundation in the essentials needed to lead with integrity and influence in the modern classroom, workplace, or community.
Importantly, becoming trauma-informed also sets you up with the skills needed to look after yourself as you as a leader. It also helps you uncover your own blind spots and biases so you’re better able to create safer spaces for the needs of diverse students, staff and stakeholders.
Being trauma-informed also means you work responsibly within the remit of your qualifications and experience. Cultivating a community of trusted practitioners that can meet the needs of your students where you can’t is part of building trust as a responsible and ethical professional.
Who’s your teacher?
I began my yoga journey by attending Hatha yoga asana classes. I’ve spent most of my career teaching Hatha and Vinaysa styles of Yoga asana and later developed a passion for Restorative Yoga for nervous system replenishment and the benefits of mindfulness and meditation for overall wellbeing and performance. I combined my love of nature with my passion for Yoga and have hosted Yoga adventure retreats in 9 countries, with hopefully many more to come!
I have delved into many styles of practice as a student and have been privileged to train in person with many experienced teachers from diverse lineages including Leslie Kaminoff, Christopher Wallace, Tiffany Cruickshank, Duncan Peak, Alan Goode, Polly Realf and many others over the last 15 years.
After a decade of experiencing and witnessing mistreatment as an employee and contractor of Yoga studios around the world I took a hiatus from classroom teaching and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy. I saw much unintentional harm being done by teachers unqualified to be caring for individuals suffering mental health challenges, people with disabilities or differences feeling unwelcome in yoga studios and so much teacher burnout that I wanted to learn effective ways that could help teachers create safe spaces, where a wide range of people felt welcomed and supported and for teachers to sustain careers in the long term without sacrificing their mental, physical, emotional or financial health.
I know combine my yoga experience with neuroscience, somatic
My hope is that by completing this training you feel confident to teach yoga in a way that supports you achieving dreams and goals and set you up with the skills you need to make yoga welcoming to any population you choose to share it with.
It doesn’t matter what profession you’ve come from before, Yoga can enrich to your life as you delve deeper into it’s principles and practices. Through this training you’ll learn how to share it’s wisdom and benefits with your future students too.

This training is for you if you’re passionate about teaching Yoga in an accessible manner. If you’re interested in ‘deepening your practice’ by learning about aspects of Yoga other than asana you’re still welcome to join but be aware that the course is designed to prepare you to teach Yoga safely and well to a general population. Accessible yoga isn’t about mastering complex asana, but about helping individuals find their own path to the Yoga that is right for them. So if you’re seeking a physically progressive practice this might not be the right course for you. I’d be happy to discuss your goals and help you find the right course for you!
